Sunday School
Sunday School Teachers:   Schedule (PDF)
MYPD Events:   Schedule (PDF)

Our Sunday School uses a kid-friendly and teacher-energizing curriculum called Walk With Me. Faith Alive (the publishing house for the CRC denomination) designed this curriculum to:
  1. Teach Bible stories and doctrine from the reformed perspective
  2. Teach in ways that will help students grow in their faith
  3. Teach using activities that are fun and kid-friendly
For many of the grades, we have a rotating teaching schedules, where different members of the congregation sign-up for one month to teach. Most of the teachers have gone through Walk With Me training and/or have considerable teaching experience of their own.

We always encourage and welcome new teachers. The curriculum is very easy to use and teachers often grow along with their students. Feel free to speak with any of the Sunday School leadership to learn more (Sue V).

Kindergarten through 3rd Grades (held in Room 3) will be studying Old Testament Bible stories revolving around the themes of Love and Obey God, God Cares for People, and God Speaks to Us. They will have sheets that they will get to bring home to show their parents each week.

The 4th and 5th Grades (held in Room 9) will be introduced to the basics of Reformed faith. Their fall units include They Were Called Christians (studying the Pentecost, persecution of the church, and the Reformation), Welcome to the Family, and Using My Gifts in the Church. Their teacher will be Jerry M.

Classes begin Sunday, September 12 at 11:30 a.m. Each session should run until 12:10 p.m.

Kids Hope USA
Kids Hope USA churches give hope to children at public elementary schools through a relationship with a caring church member. Milwood CRC brings hope to children at Milwood Elementary School.

H: Helping to meet the emotional, social and academic needs of at-risk children by giving them a one-to-one relationship with a Mentor from our church.

O: Owned by our church. This is our ministry to children and families in our neighborhood.

P: Prayer is the foundation for our work. A behind-the-scenes prayer partner from our church prays for each adult-child relationship.

E: Elementary school children are our focus. They need mentoring most because they are at that critical time when values are formed, self-esteem is developed and critical academic skills must be acquired.

Our Mission:
Kids Hope USA builds caring relationships...
one child, one hour, one church, one school.

Our Belief:
We believe in Jesus' way.

Our Values:
  • Children: Because every child matters.
  • Relationships: Because love is only possible person to person.
  • Faithfulness: Because if I say I will, I will.
