Classes are designed to explore what the church believes and why, using the Bible as well as
other resources such as the Heidelberg Catechism and the Belgic Confession. Theses classes also
discuss how these beliefs apply to the lives of Christians. They meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
8th through 10th grades meet in Room 13. Teacher: Dick D.
This class uses the material What We Believe. It teaches students the basics of the Christian faith
according to the Reformed/Presbyterian tradition. This course basically follows the sequence presented in
the Belgic Confession. Each session features a 20-minute video and the students use a handout to review key
facts, discuss issues raised by the video and apply the teaching to their lives.
11th & 12th grades meet in the Council Room. Teacher: Pastor Loren Kotman.
This class will use materials adapted from The Purpose-Driven Church by Rick Warren. The material has
been revised to fit the needs of our church. The class is divided into four parts: Part One deals with the
basic doctrines of the Christian faith. Part Two focuses on four basic habits every Christian needs to grow in
spiritual maturity: time in God's Word, prayer, tithing, and fellowship. Part Three helps us discover how God
has equipped and prepared us for ministry. It also helps us to commit to develop and use our God-given gifts
and abilities in serving God and others in God's family. Part Four prepares us to be messengers of God's good
news to other people using our time, talents, and treasures for His kingdom regardless of where it leads or what
it costs.
